MWSU is doing its part in the prevention of violence based on race, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, etc.. Fate of Hate Week is designed to remember those who have lost their lives due to "hate" and educate our community about the work that still needs to take place. Come and join us...take a stand...we DARE you!

Monday September 14

12-2p.m. Memorial Service in Blum Lobby
We will read the names and stories of those who were killed or harmed due to hate crime. If you are willing to read names and stories please email me and we will sign you up. The memorial will include a place of remembrance for the victims. This promises to be a unique and shocking program.

6p.m. "Klan-Destine Relationships" with Daryl Davis Kemper Recital Hall
Daryl Davis has come in closer contact with the Ku Klux Klan than most white non-members and certainly most African Americans- short of being on the wrong end of the rope. He will discuss his book as well as his experience helping people denounce membership in hate groups. He has an awesome presentation and story and promises to be an inspiration to those trying to find a way to change the world!

Tuesday September 15

12-1p.m. and 5-6p.m.
  "I Dare You...Blum Lobby
Skit about real life issues that students face daily. The focus will be on hate, violence, issues of respect and acceptance. The Multicultural Institute will give you a glimpse into the world of our students and how they deal with everyday diversity.

Wednesday September 16

7p.m. "Beyond Hatred" Leah Spratt 216
The acclaimed French film, Beyond Hatred, is the story of the Chenu family's brave and heartrending struggle to seek justice while trying to make sense of such pointless violence and unbearable loss as they deal with the aftermath of their son who was killed by skinheads because he was gay. This event is in collaboration with P.O.V., PBS' award winning, non-fiction film series. Facilitated by Chai Jindasurat.
