Multicultural Institute (MI) is a multicultural leadership program designed to build a better understanding of diversity, inclusion and social justice among students at Missouri Western State University. MI is comprised of students from different backgrounds, races, ethnicity, gender identification, sexual orientation, academic class, etc... These students come together to explore topics that are relevant in today's society as well as on campus. MI is open to anyone who would want to participate including faculty and staff. Group members are asked to: attend meetings/workshops, participate, keep an open mind and share their experiences. New members are enrolled during the Spring semester to begin in the upcoming fall. Enrollment for 2009-2010 MI will begin in early April. MI events include: Urban Excursion, Alternative Spring Break, Tunnel of Oppression and other regional activities that fit within the mission of the program (cultural movies, books, articles, local speakers, etc...). If you are interested in MI or would like to know more information please contact the CME or stop by Blum Union 210 to get more information. |
