Dr. Geri Dickey
gdickey@missouriwestern.edu
Geri Dickey earned her bachelor's degree in social work
from Southern Illinois University, her master's degree
in social work from the University of Illinois, and her
PhD in social work from the University of Missouri.
Dickey spent her social work career providing clinical
social work services in social work community based
mental health clinics.
Dickey's dissertation research study looked at
attitudes of certified nurse assistants who work in long
term care on sexual orientation. The study explored the
largest group of employees in long term care (the CNA)
and asserted that as advocates for equal rights, social
workers have a responsibility to ensure that the sexual
orientation of nursing home residents are respected and
protected. Currently she lives in St. Joseph, Missouri,
and is Assistant Professor and Director of the social
work program at Missouri Western State University. |
