PRINTMAKING

Printmaking intrinsically concerns itself with the development of imagery. From a conceptual perspective, imagery is the language of thought, philosophy and visual sensibilities that links the works of one person together. The emphasis is on imagery and its development through the various techniques that may be applied in the printmaking process.

The Print studio has two etching presses, a lithography press and a 24” x 36” exposure unit. Instruction is offered in the following print disciplines: intaglio, relief, lithography and serigraphy. Because of the concern for health and safety, instruction is also offered in SolarPlate etching and waterless lithography. Both processes provide for the development of rich printmaking imagery while utilizing water and non-toxic inks as their primary materials for establishing images.
