Professor Geo Sipp is exhibiting paintings at Weinberger Fine Art at 1800 Baltimore in the Crossroads Arts District. Opening Friday, July 5th, several large – scale paintings that are composed of Oil, Packing Tape, Aluminum and Resin will be on view.
Professor J. Neil Lawley gave an artist talk and exhibited three drawings in an invitational exhibition at 3F Project Room in Kyoto, Japan. He also toured the facilites of Kyoto University of Art and Design, learned about their foundations structure, and met with the International Programs office to discuss future collaborations. He was also a juror for a student paper fashion show at Kyoto University of Art and Design.
MWSU 2013 Graphic Design graduate Jeremy Todd had two packaging pieces, “Duffle Tea” and “Accordion Bar & Grill” accepted in the semi-finals for the 2013 Adobe Achievement Awards. This global competition is highly selective and is judged by a panel of international design experts. The ADAA competition has attracted more than 27,000 student participants from a total of 75 countries since the program was introduced in 2001. Last year’s three winners in the packaging category were from Ireland, Canada and Korea.
Professor Teresa Harris had a mixed-media work entitled “Cocoon III” accepted into the “8th National Exhibition” at Axis Gallery in Sacramento, CA. The juror, Glen Helfand, is art critic for Artforum, Art on Paper, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, and is associate editor of the design magazine CMYK. He also teaches at the California College of the Arts, Mills College and the San Francisco Art Institute. There were 423 images submitted by 192 artists and 32 artists had work accepted.
Misha Kligman is having a solo exhibition entitled: Threshold opening at the City Ice Arts in Kansas City on July 12th. The show focuses on large scale paintings and it runs until August 17th.The Gallery is located at 2015 Campbell Street • Kansas City, MO 64108. All are invited to come.
Professor Geo Sipp has a solo exhibition entitled: Before Algeria; Drawings & Paintings opening at The Cider Gallery in Lawrence, Kansas on Friday, May 31st. This is the premier exhibition for the beautiful gallery, which is housed in a converted cider vinegar warehouse at 810 Pennsylvania Avenue, just off 8th Street, in Lawrence. Professor Sipp will speak about his work on Thursday, June 6th, from 5:30-7:30.

Congratulations to Fran Texeira who is the winner of the 2013 Trails West! Poster competition. This regional contest is sponsored by the Allied Arts Council of St. Joseph and poster submissions are open to the public. Fran was awarded $500.00 and will have her promotional poster printed and distributed throughout the Midwest.
