Announcements
- Cathy Gann joined the Student Success staff in August.
Prior to moving to Student Success, Cathy was the Reading
and Study Skills Coordinator in the Center for Academic
Support. Her duties in Student Success include the
following: overseeing the University 101 program, monitoring
the Early Invention system, managing registration procedures
in Student Success, and assisting with the A+ program. Cathy
will continue to offer C-Base workshops for education majors
and assist in the training of Student Academic Mentors to
deliver study skills workshops.
- On November 4, 2011, Mary Ann Bodine will join the
Student Success staff as the Student Success and Advising
Director. Mary Ann has a Masters in English/TESOL and is in
the dissertation stage of obtaining her Ph.D. in Higher
Education Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
Currently, she is the Assistant Director of Academic
Advising at Oklahoma City Community College, a position to
which she was promoted within a year of joining the college
as an academic advisor. She created an outreach handbook to
assist students on academic probation, and this past year
her area had over 44,000 student visits for a variety of
academic concerns.
Mary Ann has taught both at the college level and K-12. She
has served as an international student advisor and as a host
family for students from Saudi Arabia, Japan, China,
Thailand, Kenya, and other countries. Her interest in
student identity development and global education reform as
well as commitment to change has been a great benefit in
serving the needs of diverse students.
- George Hammer has resigned as Academic Advisor/A+
Specialist. Student Success will be conducting a search to
fill this position. In the meantime, Sandy White has been
hired on an MOA to assist with the A+ program and
advisement. Sandy has a master’s degree in education and is
retired from Stewartsville C-2 School where she worked as a
guidance counselor.
