Can I become an honors student after I have begun
classes?
Currently matriculated students who have completed
at least 15 but not more than 32 hours of course work with a
GPA of 3.5 or above at Missouri Western or any accredited
college or university are also invited to apply for
admissions into General Studies Honors. Students who have
completed at least 32 hours of course work with a GPA of 3.5
or above at Missouri Western or at any accredited college or
university are invited to apply for admission to Major
Honors.
Can I be awarded an academic scholarship after
beginning my college experience?
Most academic scholarships, such as the
President's, Provost's, and Governor's scholarships, are
awarded to qualifying first-time students. The Golden
Griffon scholarship is awarded to qualifying
incoming-freshmen students. However, there are many
departmental scholarships that are available to all levels
of students within that department.
Do I have a special advisor as an honors student?
No, advisors will be selected according to the intended or
declared major of each student. However, advisors will
be notified of a student's honor status and will then
include the necessary honors classes in their advisement
along with the student's major requirements. If a
student has any questions regarding the Honors Program, its
requirements or application; please contact: Dr.
Teddi Deka, Honors Program Director,
