Guidelines
for Students Applying for A+ Eligible Programs
Overview
The A+ Schools program is a high school improvement initiative
established by the Outstanding Schools Act of 1993. The program
is raising academic standards, opening new doors to higher education
and introducing students to the teaching profession through tutoring
and mentoring activities. In conjunction with Hillyard Technical
Center, Missouri Western State University offers A+ students
access to our one-year certificate, two-year AS, and two-year
AAS degree programs. These programs are available to all students
who are A+ eligible and who meet Missouri Western State University’s
admission requirements.
Mission
The focus of the A+ program is to provide a rich and rewarding
college experience for A+ students and to develop an intensive
partnership among A+ high schools, Missouri Western State University,
Hillyard Technical Center, students, parents, labor, business
and community.
