A+ Students
   

Do you want to be considered an A+ student?
  • Have you had your final high school transcript with the A+ seal sent to Missouri Western?
  • Have you completed your FAFSA and had it sent to Missouri Western? If you are having difficulty, please contact Missouri Western's Financial Aid office at 816.271.4361.
  • Reminder: A+ pays for an associate degree. Therefore, to use A+, a student must plan to obtain an associate degree in one of the following four majors:
    • Criminal Justice
    • Legal Assistant
    • Manufacturing Engineering Technology
    • Physical Therapist Assistant

    • Scroll down to Biology, then A.A.S. Physical Therapist Assistant, and/or

    • Scroll down to Engineering Technology, then A.A.S. Manufacturing Engineering Technology
      • A+ students have to declare a major in one of the four associate degree programs.
      • A+ students need to select at least 4 (12 cr. hrs.) classes on one of these major forms.

    • To see a description of criminal justice or legal assistant classes, go to the select area, scroll down to criminal justice, and then search. As you scroll down, you will see a short description of the criminal justice and legal assistant classes.

ENGLISH:
English subscore < 19, must enroll in ENG 100 To challenge your English placement, students can take the Writing Placement Exam during the New Student Registration Program
English subscore 19-25, can enroll in ENG 104 For further information on challenge options, please call the English Department at 816.271.4310
English subscore 26 or higher, can enroll in ENG 112 Once you complete this course, you will receive 6 hours of composition credit, which fulfills the English composition requirement for general studies for 4 yr. degree programs

MATH:
Math subscore < 20, must enroll in MAT 081 To challenge your math placement, please call the Developmental Math Department at 816.271.4400
 
If math subscore is 20 or higher, you can enroll in a general studies math course.  
MAT 110 - Contemporary Problem Solving is recommended for the following majors: Art, Criminal Justice, English, History, Music, Physical Education and Speech Communication. (NOTE: Students may elect to take either MAT 112 or MAT 116 in place of MAT 110.) MAT 112 – Finite Mathematics is recommended for the following majors: Business, Economics, Elementary Education, History, Nursing, Political Science, Psychology and Speech Research
MAT 116 – College Algebra is recommended for the following majors: Biology, Business, Computer Information Systems, Elementary Education, Engineering Technology, History, Physical Education, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Social Work and Speech Research MAT 130 – Pre-Calculus is recommended for Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Technology and Mathematics

READING:
Reading subscore < 19, must enroll in RDG 095 Students are required to take a placement test during the New Student Registration Program
Reading subscore 19 or higher, no reading course is required For further information on the reading placement test, please call the English Department at 816.271.4310
