Advisee Responsibilities
   

Advisees should do the following:
  • Schedule regular appointments or make regular contacts with advisor during each semester
  • Come prepared to each appointment with questions or materials for discussion
  • Be an active learner by participating fully in the advising experience
  • Ask questions to gain understanding of an issue or to address a specific concern
  • Keep a personal record of progress toward meeting goals
  • Organize official documents in a way that allows access when needed
  • Complete all assignments or recommendations from advisors
  • Gather all relevant decision-making information
  • Clarify personal values and goals and provide advisor with accurate information regarding interests and abilities
  • Become knowledgeable about college programs, policies, and procedures
  • Accept responsibility for decisions
