December 12, 2009 Commencement Information
Students are to report to the Old Gym at 3:00 P.M. The ceremony begins promptly at 4:00 P.M.
On December 12, 2009, during Missouri Western State University’s commencement ceremonies, degrees will be conferred on all students who have completed graduation requirements in the fall semester of 2009. Information will be mailed to the graduates in November so please make sure your mailing address is updated! ANNOUNCEMENTS A Herff Jones representative will be at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Blum Student Union on Thursday, October 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to order announcements and other personalized graduation accessories. If you would like to order personalized announcements online, you can view the selection options and place your order on the following web site: www.herffjones.com/college/ Please note: You do NOT order your own cap and gowns for commencement. They are pre-ordered for you and picked up at a later date at the bookstore. November 14 – December 11
Senior Fair: A Senior Fair has been scheduled for Saturday, November 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Blum Student Union. More information will be forthcoming.
Graduates that cannot attend the Senior Fair may pick up regalia starting November 16 at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore on Missouri Western’s Campus (Blum Union) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Masters Graduates: Caps, gowns and hoods for those receiving Masters degrees will be special ordered. You will be contacted regarding sizes and you will be notified when the orders have arrived. You should make sure your mailing address is updated and also check your Western email for information.

Chappell will contact respective graduates directly. If you do not receive your proof, or if you have questions regarding the photographs, please contact Chappell by calling (800) 424-3686. December 12 3:00 p.m. - Arena doors open Graduates should report to the Old Gym inside M.O. Looney Complex for commencement and line-up information. 4:00 p.m. – Commencement processional begins The Alumni Association will host a reception for graduates and their families following the commencement ceremony. Location information will be available at a later date. Regalia Candidates for certificates and degrees must wear robes without added adornment such as markings on mortar boards, beads or flowers. If you wear additional adornment, it will be taken away before you enter the arena floor. Honor Stoles Degree candidates who will graduate with honors wear stoles, which will be distributed during line-up information on the day of commencement. Honor graduates are identified in the commencement program.
Diplomas Graduates will receive a diploma cover on the day of the ceremony with a congratulatory note from President Robert Vartabedian. The Registrar’s Office will mail your diploma approximately 4-6 weeks after your graduation term to the address listed on your graduation application. Please be sure your address is updated. Please note: Official transcripts with graduation information and the MWSU diploma will not be released if any financial obligation exists with the University.
