GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM GOALS: The B.S.
in Wildlife Conservation and Management is designed to provide
the student interested in wildlife conservation and management with
the background needed to qualify for entry-level biologist positions
with government agencies and private-sector firms involved in conservation
and/or management of wildlife resources. Such potential employers
would include but not be limited to state
agencies (such as Missouri Department
of Conservation and Missouri
Department of Natural Resources), Federal
agencies (such as U.S. Fish & Wildlife
Service, U. S. Department of the
Interior, U. S. Forest
Service, National Biological Survey),
non government organizations (such as World
Wildlife Fund, National Wildlife
Federation, The Nature Conservancy,
various environmental consulting firms, etc.), and other government
agencies at the county and city levels. The Wildlife Conservation
and Management degree is designed to provide the
student with a broad-based background that will permit the student
to pursue a professional career upon graduation or pursue further
graduate training. Further, this program is being developed with
the specific goal of meeting the educational requirements set forth
in the Program for
Certification of Professional Wildlife Biologists by The
Wildlife Society.
