Noontime Concert Series

The Western department of music, in cooperation with the First Presbyterian Church, will hold the monthly First Thursday Downtown Noontime Concert at 12:10 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the First Presbyterian Church, 7th and Jules. Jerry Anderson will present an organ recital, “Sounds of the Season,” music for Advent and Christmas.

The audience is invited to bring lunch to eat while listening to the performance. There will be an opportunity to meet the musician after the concert. A minimum donation of $3 per person is suggested in order to meet the expenses and provide continuation of the series.

Anderson retired as director of keyboard studies and associate professor of music at Western last May but continues to teach there part time. He taught piano and piano literature since 1972. Many of his students have won awards in piano performance, completed graduate degrees and are in successful performance careers.

Since 1974 Anderson has been director of music (organist/choirmaster) at First Presbyterian Church, where he plays the 46-rank Visser-Rowland pipe organ installed in 1989.
