IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Room Telephones
Each room has one private line. Telephones are not provided. Basic services include: on campus calls (last four digits of number), local St. Joseph calls (9+7-digit number), and any toll free number. Students are NOT to accept collect/third party calls. As of May 2005 long distance service is no longer provided. Phone lines not working should be reported to the Office of Telephone Services.
Decorating Information
We encourage you to decorate you room to make it feel like home. However there are a number of guidelines in order to maintain safety and minimize damage to your room. See your RA or RHD or visit our website to learn more about our Decorating policy.
U.S. Mail
All letters, magazines, and care packages are to be addressed as indicated below. Your mailing address must include your room # and Hall name.

All mail is received at the MWSU Mail Services location daily. It is then distributed to the appropriate destinations throughout campus. Allow an extra day when mailing a student something special!
Washer and Dryers
Coin-Operated washers (50¢) & dryers (25¢) are available in each residence hall.
G-Number & Student I.D.
Know your G-number! “What is your G-number?” is the most commonly asked question throughout campus! Make sure to have your student ID available as a source of identification at all times. Replacement ID’s are $10 each from the Public Safety Office, Blum Union 100.
Immunizations
Students wishing to live in the residence halls at Missouri Western State University are required to have up to date vaccinations for measles / mumps / rubella (MMR) tetanus / diphtheria (TD) and meningococcal disease (bacterial meningitis). Students considered to be at risks for tuberculosis (TB) are required to have a skin test. Students must submit proof of these immunizations and tests to the Esry Student Health Center.
Students who do not have the immunizations and tests, nor a completed Health History Form, or do not present an appropriately documented and signed medical or religious exemption form, will be denied housing and or forced to vacate the residence halls. Residence Council
The Residence Council (RC) is an organization of students whose goal is to enhance the live-on experience. Through different programs and efforts, RC aims to promote community, diversity and leadership to students living on campus. RC also maintains a close relationship with the Office of Residential Life, acting as the representatives for students and voicing their concerns. When you move into your hall you will find information regarding Residence Council’s first meeting. We encourage you to attend.
Resident Assistant (RA)
Resident Assistants or “RAs” are student staff members who are trained to help students adjust to living on campus and to college life in general. They are available to help with roommate conflicts, and act as a resource for personal and academic concerns.
Residence Hall Director (RHD)
The Residence Hall Director is responsible for the overall management
and supervision of their hall. RHD’s are employed full time and either has their bachelors or masters degree and has experience working in residence halls. The RHD has regular office hours and is also available during the evening hours as part of the on-call duty rotation schedule. |
