RESIDENT ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION

Compensation
-
Resident Assistant Staff members are compensated in the form of a two-part room and board scholarship applied 3-4 times per semester. It is the responsibility of each individual to make arrangements to defer room and board payment with the Business Office.
- If you are a recipient of any scholarships and/or other financial aid, an appointment as a Resident Assistant will affect your overall financial aid package. Resident Assistant Applicants are encouraged to speak with Financial Aid to ascertain how the RA Job can affect the financial support you receive from Missouri Western State University.

Resident Assistants may be assigned roommates if they are living in the Apartments or Suites. RAs in the Living and Learning Center have single rooms.
- RAs receive a $600 per semester stipend, paid in monthly installments.

RAs receive the “12 meals $200 flex plan” for their board plan.
RA Staff may select a lower cost meal plan as long as they are eligible for the selected plan.
Qualifications

Each RA must be a regularly enrolled fulltime student (at least 12 hours) during the appointed period.
- Must have a 2.25 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
- Must have completed at least
24 hours at the time of appointment.
- Must have lived in the halls for one semester by the time of appointment.
- May not register for more than 16 hours per semester.
- Must be in good standing with the University (i.e. not on disciplinary probation).

Responsibilities

The RA will oversee a hall or wing of approximately 35 residents.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to assisting in the administrative operation of the building including, opening and closing periods, attending weekly staff meetings, on call/duty, desk hours, in-service training, summer and mid-semester training, enforcing policies, developing community, and the implementation of social and educational programs.
General Availability

It is expected that RAs also be available for their residents for advising, counseling, community building, questions / concerns and other staff obligations.

Weekly fluctuations and variations may occur as outlined by the Residence Hall Director. In order to meet these time commitments campus employment is limited to 12 hours outside of the RA position.
