Counter Terrorism Awareness for Line Officers
Focusing on Law Enforcement Intelligence
This one day training was developed by
the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) and
will be delivered via the RCPI National Network. This
effort is made possible as a result of a partnership
between the Missouri-Regional Community Policing
Institute at Missouri Western State University and the
Bureau of Justice Assistance.
This course is designed for delivery at
the local level by the cadre of Terrorism & Intelligence
Awareness subject matter experts who have been
identified by the RCPI National Network for delivery to
local law enforcement attendees. This training is
designed to supplement ongoing training efforts or to
serve as a starting point for agencies that wish to
engage in more training both inside and outside their
organizations.
This course will include the latest
available training information on

Domestic Terrorism
The latest information on existing and emerging
domestic extremists groups with a focus on those
groups in the immediate geographic area in which the
training is being delivered.
- International Terrorism
The latest information on existing and emerging
international extremists groups that have the potential
to bring harm to our nation’s communities.

Terrorism Indicators
Attendees will gain understanding that all terrorist incidents are often preceded by a long planning and preparation period, which is law enforcement’s best opportunity to disrupt and prevent an attack.

Law Enforcement Intelligence
Law Enforcement participants will gain from this training:

Understand the meaning and definition of law enforcement intelligence.

Understand the criminal intelligence process and its ability to enhance contributions to the criminal justice system.

Understand data systems, networks, resources, and information available to line-level law enforcement officers as related to intelligence.

Demonstrate a basic understanding of the National Criminal Intelligence Sharing Plan (NCISP) and the fusion centers.

Identify procedures for collecting data and reporting such activity.

Understand the legal, privacy, and ethical limitations placed on the collection of criminal intelligence information.
