Incident Command System for Law Enforcement Agencies/NIMS

SYNOPSIS:
This program is designed to familiarize all members of the law enforcement agency in the Incident Command System and to prepare participants to successfully complete the FEMA National Incident Management System on-line program. 

OBJECTIVES:

  • Participants to understand the Incident Command System including its;
    History, rationale, principles, and implementation.
  • Introduction to ICS including factors affecting emergency management, historical and legal basis, concepts and principles of ICS, and rationale for a multidisciplinary approach to emergency management.
  • Understanding factors that contribute to stabilization of a critical incident.
  • Focuses on the responsibilities of the Incident Commander (IC).
  • Addresses the Command Staff and General Staff functions.
  • Addresses the General Staff functions.
  • Practical Exercise in which the participants apply ICS principals to structured scenarios.
  • Summary of course highlights. Participants outline a plan for implementing ICS in their own departments and have an opportunity to evaluate the course.
