Terrorism Interdiction for Line Officers 

SYNOPSIS:
This course is designed to give law enforcement officers tools to engage in constructive interdiction of domestic and international terrorism.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Provide background on the broader national purpose and explanation of the impetus for this training program

  • Discuss the nexus between COP and Homeland Security
  • Provide an overview of the foundations of COP
  • Discuss the local impact of terrorism
  • Define vigilance
  • Provide an overview of the Homeland Security System
  • Develop a working definition of COP
  • Discuss the goals and purposes of COP
  • Apply COP to Homeland Security
  • Understand that each terrorist incident is often preceded by a long planning and preparation period, and that it is law enforcement’s and community’s best opportunity to disrupt and prevent an attack
  • Identify likely terrorism targets and distinguish between targets identified by law enforcement and those identified in the Al-Qaeda training manual
  • Recognize, identify and understand various indicators and warning signs exhibited by terrorists/extremists
  • Recognize and identify various logos, symbols and other identifiers that may be associated with extremists groups or individuals
