Citizen Complaint and Investigation Issues

SYNOPSIS:
This program is designed for Chiefs and/or Senior Managers with the authority and responsibility for overseeing, reviewing and revising their departments' citizen complaint intake and investigation.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Identify the value and need for open citizen complaint intake and investigation processes
  • Acquire knowledge about citizen acceptance methods
  • Discuss a sample process designed to help assess the citizen complaint process specific to their department
  • Discuss ways to use the sample process as a tool for reviewing and strengthening their department's approach to the citizen complaint intake and investigative process
  • Look at the complaint intake and investigation process as a leading indicator of your department's commitment to the highest standards of ethics and integrity
