Human Judgment Interference Factors
Initiative (JIFI)
This two-day course is designed to provide
attendees with an awareness of Judgment Interference Factor
Initiatives (JIFI) and the understanding of JIFI concepts
when utilized can serve as a valuable tool to improve law
enforcement operations by reducing errors in
low-frequency/high-risk activities (pursuits, use of
weapons, felony car-stops, etc.)
Human factors engineering has been an area of emphasis in
aviation for years and has resulted in Judgment Interference
Factors (JIF) as a key tool in investigating aviation
accidents and preventing future accidents. This training
brings these concepts to law enforcement operations where
lives are dependant on performance.
JIFI training will include:
-
An organizational assessment to identify
any policies and/or procedures that may be increasing
the potential for officer mistakes or failures.
-
Review of performance factors which will
help minimize errors and to improve organizational
processes in identifying potential crisis and improved
strategies for post-crisis analysis.
-
Review of the “Dirty Dozen” Judgment
Interference Factors
-
Illustration that only 4 of the 12
“Dirty Dozen” need be present to allow for a crisis
event to occur.
