Dr. Jim Bargar is a licensed counseling psychologist. He is interested in the delivery and effectiveness of psychotherapy and other mental health services. He is the co-developer of the Global Scale of Psychotherapy Effectiveness (GSPE). In addition, he has participated in forensic programs and training sponsored by the FBI Behavioral Sciences Unit.
Dr. Kelly Henry was trained in social and organizational psychology. She studies the impact innovative communication media have on group dynamics and productivity. For example, how does a social media platform (e.g., Facebook or LinkedIn) possibly benefit and harm our relationships (either professional or personal)? Of particular interest, how can professional organizations employ technology to facilitate productive group project outcomes?
Dr. Jeremiah Still was trained in human-computer interaction with an emphasis in cognition. He focuses on the creation of usable interfaces by adapting cognitive theories to the design process. We are currently investigating three lines of research within Cognitive Design: affordance versus convention based interactions, implicit versus explicit knowledge elicitation and how to describe visual saliency in complex displays (for more information visit: PoD lab). The purpose of these research lines is to advance understanding of the processes involved in user experiences, especially those associated with implicit, or automatic, processes.
Dr. Mary Still was trained in cognitive psychology with an emphasis in written communication. She studies basic processes in word recognition (e.g., why do we confuse jugde for judge?) and applied topics in computer-mediated communication (e.g., does ILU communicate the same message as I love you?). She also has interests in memory and attention.
Dr. Phil Wann was trained in behavioral neuroscience and human neuropsychology. He is interested in brain mechanisms of learning and memory. His current research focuses on biological intuitions and emotional states that impact moral decision-making. He is also interested in psychological factors that affect blood pressure regulation.
