STATEMENT OF PURPOSEThe purpose is to determine if there is a difference in the rate of burnout between Division II baseball and softball and if there is a difference in the burnout rate between genders. It is hypothesized that there will be a greater rate of burnout rate in baseball than softball and with that there will be a higher rate of burnout in males than females.
STATEMENT OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGYThe subjects will be given survey, the survey is the Athletic Burnout Questionnaire with a few demographic questions at the beginning. The survey will be directly administered to subjects and will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The subjects will first answer the demographic questions of the survey then move on to the Athletic Burnout Questionnaire.
ANTICIPATED RISKS AND BENEFITSThere are no foreseeable risks and benefits of our study. Our study will provide more beneficial information on athletic burnout so it can better treated.
SUBJECT SELECTIONThe total number of subjects will be approximately 24, 12 from baseball and 12 from softball. They will be selected form the Missouri Western State University baseball and softball teams.
CONFIDENTIALITYSubjects will be informed to not provide there name. After a subject finishes their survey the survey will be turned over and placed in a folder in no particular order. The day after a subject completes a survey it will be given a coded number.
