STATEMENT OF PURPOSEThe purpose of this research is to investigate the extent of direction given within a card sort. One group will be given basic directions while the other will receive additional information via a PowerPoint. The study will investigate how the cards are sorted based on which group participants are in.STATEMENT OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGYParticipants will be given directions on how to perform a card sort. Card Sorting is a technique used to see how people categorize information. Card sorting used in this experiment will be completed online using Websort.net’s card sorting program. Participants will be given various cards with information on them and asked them to group them in a way that makes the most sense to them based on the group titles you have given. Both groups will receive identical information on their cards to sort into the given group titles. One group will be asked to watch an additional informational PowerPoint on a lab computer.ANTICIPATED RISKS AND BENEFITSRisks- There are minimal risks with this experiment, there are no known risks outside of using a computer.
