PASS THE POWER OFFERS FREE CITIZENSHIP CLASSES
St. Joseph, Mo. —Jan. 23, 2009— Pass the Power Adult Literacy is partnering with the East Side Rotary Club to offer free citizenship classes for individuals interested in preparing for the U.S. Citizenship exam. Classes start Jan. 27 and students can enroll at the first class.
Classes will be offered three times during the week at two different locations. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, classes will be held at Missouri Western State University’s Downtown University Center, 515 N. 6th Street. Classes are scheduled to run from 10:30 a.m. to noon. An evening class will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Ashland United Methodist Church, 2711 Ashland Avenue. The evening location will offer a meal and free childcare. The course is divided into two six-week sessions.
Students can improve their English skills while learning about U.S. government and history. The classes are designed to prepare students for the interview portion of the citizenship exam.
