Western Alumnus Kicks Off Noon Concert Series

WESTERN ALUMNUS KICKS OFF NOON CONCERT SERIES
St. Joseph, Mo. - Aug. 25, 2010 - Missouri Western State University alumnus Jeremy Gregoire will be featured at the First Thursday Downtown Noon Concert Series at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, in the Sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, 7th & Jules in St. Joseph. The performance will feature jazz piano music.
First Presbyterian Church sponsors the series with the cooperation of Western's department of music. The audience is invited to bring lunch to eat during the performance. Beverages will be provided. There will be an opportunity to meet the musicians after the concert.
Gregoire began studying the piano at age four. Upon entering high school, he continued his study under Professor John Hubor, at Fort Hays State University, winning many competitions in the Kansas area. After high school, Jeremy attended and graduated from Western, where he studied with Jerry L. Anderson. While at Western, he played in Jazz Band I under the direction of Richard Yeager. In 2000, and 2002, the band performed in the Elmhurst Jazz Festival in Chicago, where Jeremy won the Excellent Performer's Certificate both years. Jeremy has performed with a variety of professional groups at such venues as the Midland, Uptown, and Gem Theatres in Kansas City. He has also performed in the Coleman Hawkins Jazz Festival in St. Joseph as well as Trails West. He also serves as accompanist for Benton High School and First Christian Church in St. Joseph, and does some accompanying for instrumental and vocal recitals at Western.
In order to help defray expenses and to insure the continuation of the series, a freewill offering will be taken. The suggested minimum donation is three dollars. Additional financial assistance has been provided by the Commerce Bank of St. Joseph.

April 7: MWSU vocal students
