The Department of Music
provides carefully designed and relevant
curricula for training musicians and
music educators and is an associate
member of the National Association
of Schools of Music. Students may elect
the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree
in music or the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Education degree
with vocal and/or instrumental certification. Performers with
advanced skills and talent may qualify for the Performance
Emphasis curriculum. A minor in music is also available.
The main activity of the
department of music is the making
and studying of music in the context
of the modern world. In addition to the
music major curricula, many other courses
and ensembles are available from
which students may choose for their
individual musical goals.
All college students are
encourage to participate in the many
available music activities to continue
their understanding and appreciation
of music.
For music majors, the required
curricula is demanding and offers the
student an opportunity for professional
accomplishments and the resources for
continued study and growth.
