Jeffrey Hinton became the Director of Bands at Missouri Western State University in 1995. His ensemble responsibilities include directing the Golden Griffon Marching Band and the MWSU Concert Band. He is also conductor of the Western Symphonic Winds, which made their first appearance since 1983 at Missouri Music Educators Convention in January of 2000. Mr. Hinton coordinates the pep bands and teaches courses in conducting and instrumental music education. He has held previous band directing positions at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, and public schools in Missouri including Union, Marshall, Wentzville, and Fulton.

Mr. Hinton has been involved on many occasions with the All-American College Marching Band as an assistant director. In the summer of 2000, Mr. Hinton participated in the College Band Directors National Association conducting symposium in Boulder, Colorado. Mr. Hinton keeps a very active coast to coast schedule as a clinician and adjudicator for marching band, concert band, and jazz festivals. He also performs as a single reed specialist, is an active advocate for music education in our schools, and believes that preparing outstanding young musicians to teach, as well as to perform, is important to the welfare of our society.
