Mark Elting Mark Elting


Mark Elting is an adjunct professor in music and recording arts at Missouri Western State University and a private percussion teacher for MECA. Formerly of Independence, Missouri but a resident of Estes Park, Colorado for over 15 years, Mark Elting received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with an emphasis in Commercial Music and Recording Arts from MWSU. He also holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Music and Video Business from the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colorado. As a private percussion instructor/clinician, Mr. Elting has taught extensively for over 17 years throughout Colorado and Missouri, including duties as an adjunct instructor at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado, and is currently teaching privately at Missouri Western State University for Midland Empire Community Arts (MECA) as well as at Lanham Music Company also in St. Joseph.

As a professional freelance musician, Mark performs with four different groups based in St. Joseph. He is a conga player/vocalist with Jason Riley and drummer/vocalist with the bands Soca Jukebox, The Voodoo Babies and The KERV, all of which perform regularly in the St. Joseph region. He is also a producer/sound engineer/studio musician and has written and performed on numerous radio and television jingles, as well as music demos and full-length CDs. Mark also performs on occasion with the St. Joseph Symphony and the St. Joseph Community Chorus as well as at First Presbyterian Church and Wyatt Park Christian Church in St. Joseph. Mr. Elting’s performance experience includes working with and/or sharing the stage with Ray Charles, Diana Krall, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Rick Derringer, Jerry Hahn, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and others. His recording experience also includes various studios in Kansas City and St. Joseph, Missouri and Denver, Estes Park, Boulder and Grand Junction, Colorado.
