The MWSU Renaissance Singers is a
select choral ensemble open to anyone
on campus. The Renaissance Singers
meet in the fall and concentrate on
learning the literature and performance
practices of the Renaissance and early
Baroque periods. It also includes some
contemporary settings of Renaissance
texts. They have performed annually
at the Renaissance Festival in Bonner
Springs since its inception in 1980.
In the spring, the Chamber Singers
perform an even wider variety of
chamber choral music. Often invited
to perform for community events,
the Chamber Singers participate in
the spring choral concert. Many of
these ensemble members are active
in the community as soloists and
choir members of area churches. This
group has toured England and seven
European countries. These ensembles
have distinguished themselves by
being invited to perform at the annual
conference of the Missouri Music
Educators Association.
The members of these ensembles must
first be members of the MWSU Concert
Chorale.
