NURSING FACULTY-(tenure-track) – The Dept. of Nursing is seeking two full-time faculty members (Assistant/Associate Professor) to teach in the pre-licensure BSN and RN-BSN programs beginning August 2013, with potential for graduate teaching. Responsibilities include classroom teaching and supervision of nursing students in practicum or laboratory clinical courses. Additional responsibilities include scholarship and professional development related to the teaching of and practice of nursing; advising nursing students; providing departmental/university support. The BSN program is fully approved by the MOSBN and CCNE accredited. REQUIRED: Masters degree in Nursing and current national certification in specialty area or Doctorate (ABD acceptable) in Nursing or related field; licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Missouri (or ability to obtain this license). PREFER: Experience in leadership/management, community health or health policy; however, other specialty areas will be considered. Previous experience in teaching at the baccalaureate or graduate level; background in instructional technology. Candidates not meeting all requirements encouraged to apply for a non-tenure track position. ADJUNCT CHEMISTRY INSTRUCTORS- The Department of Chemistry at Missouri Western State University is establishing a pool of adjunct instructors to teach general studies chemistry lecture and laboratory sections on the MWSU campus. Adjunct instructors are required to design and implement effective learning strategies, deliver high quality instruction, and assess student learning. REQUIRED: Masters in Chemistry or Bachelors in Chemistry, or Biochemistry and Masters in a closely related field, or significant chemistry workplace or teaching experience. APPLIED COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY- The Department of Psychology at Missouri Western State University is seeking applications for a position in Applied Cognitive Psychology to begin August, 2013 (tenure-track or one-year temporary). Missouri Western's Psychology Department has a national reputation as a leader in undergraduate research and professional service, and all applicants must demonstrate evidence of and commitment to quality teaching and actively involving students in research and other professional activities. The department offers a Master’s Degree in Human Factors and Usability Testing, and preference will be given to applicants who can contribute to this program. REQUIRED: Doctorate in psychology (ABD may be considered at the instructor rank; A Master’s degree with substantial industry experience may also be considered). ASSISTANT PROFESSOR-TECHNICAL THEATRE & DESIGN- (tenure track) – The Theatre and Cinema program at Missouri Western State University invites applications for a new Technical Director faculty position beginning August, 2013. Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: courses in Stagecraft, CAD Drafting for the Stage, Production Participation, Introduction to Theatre, and Stage Lighting. Additional responsibilities will include advising students, collaboration on a four main stage production season including season selection, organization and oversight of set construction and prop construction, maintaining technical budgets for all university theatre productions as well as the organization and maintenance of scenic shop and equipment, including properties storage facilities. The Technical Director will supervise and work as part of an applied learning process with students and volunteers (e.g., organizing and managing running crews for productions). REQUIRED: The candidate must have an MFA with an emphasis in technical direction or theatre design; at least two years of university level teaching experience in technical direction and/or design and possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must provide evidence of experience in the following areas: skill in all industry standard forms of scenic construction, drafting for the stage, scenic painting techniques and welding, an understanding of lighting techniques for the theatre, including equipment and tools, and an understanding of theatrical rigging. PREFERRED: Additional skills/experience in any of the following: Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Costume Design, and Projection Design. EDUCATION ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/INSTRUCTOR- (full-time, tenure-track beginning August 2013) – to teach undergraduate/graduate courses in teacher education, face-to-face and online; supervise teacher candidates in clinical field placements; maintain a scholarly presence in teacher education; serve on department, college and university committees for assessment, accreditation and related work; and advise graduate and undergraduate students. REQUIRED: For Assistant Professor (full-time, tenure-track) Terminal degree and state teacher licensure in an area of 9-12 education; and successful teaching in US schools. For Instructor (full-time, temporary) – Masters Degree in a teaching field, teaching experience and state teacher licensure in an area of 9-12 education. PREFERRED: Math/science background and related experience, successful experience teaching in higher education and online-based instruction at the University level. ADJUNCT EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR/UNIVERSITY SUPERVISOR- (non-tenure-track beginning August 2013) – to teach undergraduate/graduate teacher education courses (some online) and/or supervise graduate Capstone projects, and supervise teacher candidates in clinical field placements including student teaching supervisions. REQUIRED: For Supervisory role, earned Master’s degree and 3-5 years successful teaching in US schools and ability to travel to PK-12 school settings to supervise. For Adjunct faculty instructor role, earned doctorate in relevant field if teaching in graduate program in MAS-Assessment (Autism, TESOL, and/or Writing Option); Earned Master’s degree if teaching undergraduate courses. PREFERRED: Terminal degree/academic preparation at the doctoral level and state teacher licensure; successful experience teaching in higher education and online-based instruction at the university level. ENGLISH INSTRUCTORS- (non-tenure-track) – The department seeks full-time instructors to teach courses in developmental and first-year composition starting August, 2013. REQUIRED: Master’s degree in English, experience teaching college composition, and experience with or willingness to develop online composition courses. PREFERRED: High school English teaching experience. In addition to teaching on campus, instructors will be expected to develop online composition courses as well as serve as liaisons to area high schools offering MWSU dual credit courses.
