Western is proud to announce a new online program geared for
working adults in the healthcare industry. You can earn
an Associate of Applied Science Degree
in Health Information Technology that will prepare you to sit for the
Registered Health Information Technology certification exam. This
credential will qualify you for a more responsible position in
the field, such as health data analyst, insurance claims analyst,
records technician specialist, clinical coding specialist, physician
practice manager or patient information coordinator. Job
prospects in this field are very good due to the rapid growth
in the number of medical tests, treatments, and procedures.

With online classes, many students are able to continue
working full time while completing the program. You may
complete the Associate program full time in two years or part
time over four years. All major classes and some general
studies classes are offered online through Western. The
other general studies classes may be taken online through other
approved institutions at your own pace. Please contact Jamie
Sickles, Western Admissions, at 816-271-4183 to get approval for
those classes. You will also have the opportunity to gain
valuable hands-on experience working in a local hospital or other
healthcare setting during the required professional practice experience.
Before you sign up for the program, be sure to
check out our online
resources to view online tutorials, computer requirements,
how to setup your login ID & password & other tips
for taking online classes.
Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
For more information visit the Financial
Aid website. If you are awarded financial aid from MWSU,
you will be required to complete the Consortium
Agreement for each institution you attend during this
program.
