Who should enroll in this option?
This option is for someone currently in the IT field, or someone who has an undergraduate degree in the area and is looking to assume a management role in the IT field.

The ITM option provides students with a background in corporate information security, network administration and integration of IT resources. In addition, program graduates will develop knowledge of organizational behavior, marketing strategy, and managerial economics. Graduates will gain skills in communication, problem solving, decision making, leadership and management; and experience working in a team environment with emerging technologies.

What are the admission requirements?
To be admitted to graduate studies at Western, an applicant must complete an Application for Graduate Admission. Admission to the program requires successful completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum undergraduate 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and a minimum graduate-level entrance exam score as designated by the department or graduate program.

Additionally, for the ITM option, applicants must have a background in computer technology. This requirement may be met by completion of an undergraduate major or minor program in computer science, computer information systems, management information science, computational mathematics, or satisfactory performance on the department’s assessment instrument.

How do I apply?
Fill out an application online. For more information, contact the Graduate Studies Office.

How is this different from a traditional master’s degree?
Unlike the traditional master’s program, Western’s MAS degree provides a solid core of courses in the chosen option, combined with courses in business, communication, marketing, economics, statistics, and management.

The MAS degree is a Professional Master’s Degree because it integrates graduate level business knowledge with technical competency. Applied learning and applied research are important aspects of the degree, and students will work in teams and apply their skills to real problems and issues.

Why is it important to integrate business and information technology management?
Information processing is the core to business decision making. Management of this valuable resource is extremely important for the survival of any business.

How much is tuition?
Tuition for fall 2007 is $193 per credit hour for Missouri residents and $353 per credit hour for non-Missouri residents. For a complete chart of tuition and fees, click here.

What about assistantships?
Graduate Assistantships are available. Applications can be obtained through the Graduate Office.

Is housing available?
Housing is not available at this time. However, if a student has a need for housing, contact the Graduate Studies Office, and arrangements may be made.

When are classes held?
Classes are offered during the fall, spring and summer terms, and will typically be scheduled for the late afternoon or evening.

Do I have the option of full- or part-time?
