Summer Financial Aid Application

Priority Deadline: April 1, 2008

Students who wish to be considered for summer financial assistance must have completed the 2007-2008 FAFSA application. If you are a new student, your admissions file must be complete and you must have a student ID number to apply.

Funds for the Federal SEOG, Federal Perkins Loan Program, and Federal Work-Study are limited and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

Enrollment Requirements:

  • You must enroll in at least one four week and/or one eight week course. Federal assistance is NOT available to students who enroll in intercession courses ONLY.
  • A minimum of six credit hours is required to receive Federal Perkins or Stafford Loan funds.


Note: CED courses are not eligible for Federal assistance and do count in your enrollment status.

Federal Work-Study: If you are applying for Federal Work-Study that begins July 1, 2008, you must also have your 2008-2009 FAFSA completed.

Federal Pell Grant: You will not be eligible for Federal Pell Grant funds if you were enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) for the Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 semesters and received the grant for both semesters, or your FAFSA indicates that you are not eligible.

Federal Stafford Loan: You will not be eligible for Federal Stafford Loan funds if you applied and received the maximum annual amount of Stafford Loans for your grade level. Independent students may have additional eligibility in unsubsidized loans unless the maximum loan amounts were also borrowed during the fall and spring semesters. You must be enrolled in at least six credit hours to receive Federal student loans.

Aggregate Loan Limits:

  • $23,000 as a Dependent Undergraduate Student
  • $46,000 as an Independent Undergraduate Student (No more than $23,000 may be Subsidized Loan Funds)

Federal PLUS Loans: If you are a dependent student, your parents may borrow under the Federal PLUS Loan Program.  The PLUS Loan allows a parent with good credit history, to borrow funds to pay education expenses of a dependent undergraduate students enrolled at least half-time.  More Information
