Summer Financial Aid Application

Priority Deadline: April 1, 2013

Please review the information below before completing the summer aid application. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you have questions.

General Requirements
  • Students who wish to be considered for summer financial assistance should have completed the 2012-2013 FAFSA application.
  • If you are a new student, your admissions file must be complete and you must have a student ID number to apply.
  • Students must enroll in at least one four week and/or one eight week course (federal assistance is NOT available to students who enroll in intercession courses only).
  • Funds for Federal SEOG, Federal Perkins Loans, and Federal Work-Study (if available) will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
Federal Pell Grant Requirements

To determine your eligiblity for a Pell Grant award during the summer, you must complete the 2012-13 FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Summer Pell grants will only be awarded to students who have attended part-time during the fall and spring semesters and have remaining Pell eligibility for the award year.

Students who have attended full-time for both the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters, will not be eligible to receive summer Pell.

Stafford and Perkins Loan Requirements

To be eligible for Stafford or Perkins loan funds, students must not have previously borrowed the maximum annual amount for their grade level. Students must also enroll in a minimum of six credit hours (excluding CED and audited courses).

PLUS Loan Requirements

If you are a dependent student, your parents may borrow under the Federal PLUS Loan Program. The PLUS Loan allows a parent with good credit history, to borrow funds to pay education expenses of a dependent undergraduate students enrolled at least half-time. 

Federal Work-Study Requirements

If you are applying for Federal Work-Study that begins July 1, 2013, you must have your 2013-2014 FAFSA completed.
