Ambassadors' Non-Traditional Student Scholarship Deadline: Priority March 1st Scholarships will be awarded to part- or full-time students who are 25 years of age or older. Scholarship Deadline: Priority March 1st The FL Chapter of P.E.O. in St. Joseph has established this award to honor Charlene McHugh, who was a long-time music teacher at Humboldt School. It is to be given to a female non-traditional student who can show financial need. She must have completed at least 12 hours with a 3.0 GPA, and be majoring in education. Dawson Scholarship March 1st A scholarship for non-traditional students with preference given to students continuing their education after raising children. Minimum GPA to qualify is 2.5 and financial need is a consideration. Application Procedures: Complete the General Scholarship Application requirements. Contact Information: Non-Traditional Student Center, 816/271-4280 The Enright Family Scholarship March 1st The Enright Family Scholarship is awarded to full or part-time students who are 25 years or older. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA, be degree-seeking, and able to show financial need. Application Procedures: Complete the General Scholarship Application requirements. Contact Information: Non-Traditional Student Center, 816/271-4280 Eugene and Peggy Juda Family Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students Deadline: Priority March 1st This scholarship is awarded to non-traditional students who are half-time or full-time, can show financial need, and have at least average grades. Contact Information: Non-Traditional Student Center, 816/271-4280 Gina Welsch Compton Memorial Scholarship Deadline: Priority March 1st This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who has minor children at home and who maintains a 2.5 GPA. Application Procedures: Complete the General Scholarship Application requirements and submit three letters of reference using the online reference request form. Contact Information: Foundations Office, 816/271-5647 Hiller Family Foundation Scholarship Deadline: Priority March 1st Non-Traditional students applying to college for the first time or who last attended college three or more years ago and have completed fewer than 30 credit hours. Recipients must maintain at least 9 or more credit hours each semester. A GPA of 2.5 is required to maintain the scholarship in the second semester and to qualify for renewal. These awards will be administered by the Coordinator of the Non-Traditional Student Center. Contact Information: Non-Traditional Student Center, 816/271-4280 Kelsey Brown Cooper Beshears Memorial Scholarship Deadline: March 1st This scholarship has been established in memory of Kelsey Brown Cooper Beshears, a well-known civil rights leader and a St. Joseph business woman. This scholarship will be awarded to 2 Non-Traditional Students. Students must maintain at least a GPA of 2.5. Criteria is based on participation in community activities and financial need. Contact Information: Non-Traditional Student Center, 816/271-4280 Lingle Family Scholarship Deadline: Priority March 1st The Lingle Family Scholarship assists women 25 years of age or older who are returning to school. They must take at least six credit hours, be progressing toward a specific degree and demonstrate financial need. Application Procedures: Complete the General Scholarship Application requirements. Contact Information: Non-Traditional Student Center, 816/271-4280 Marguerite Ross Barnett Memorial Scholarship Deadline: April 1st State Aid Program To be eligible for this program, the student must be enrolled part-time (6-11 credit hours), be employed and compensated for at least twenty (20) or more hours per week, be making satisfactory academic progress and have financial need. Application Procedures: Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit any additional requested documentation to the Office of Financial Aid no later than April 1st. Must complete an Employment Verification Form. Contact Information: Office of Financial Aid or online at www.dhe.mo.gov Mignon Deshon / Ambassadors' Scholarship Deadline: Priority March 1st This endowed scholarship will be given to a full-time, second semester freshman, 25 years of age or older, with a 3.5 GPA. The recipient will receive the award each year as long as a 3.5 GPA is maintained. Application Procedures: Complete the General Scholarship Application requirements. Contact Information: Non-Traditional Student Center, 816/271-4280 Mildred Heim Gumm Memorial Scholarship Deadline: Priority March 1st The Mildred Heim Gumm Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a non-traditional student who has earned a minimum 2.75 GPA. The recipient must be at least 25 years of age, degree seeking, full or part-time, and in need of financial assistance. Contact Information: Non-Traditional Student Center, 816/271-4280 Non-Traditional Community College Transfer Scholarship Deadline: Priority June 1st Missouri Western Aid Program This scholarship is awarded annually to Missouri Western students who have completed 60 hours at a junior or community college with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. This award is restricted to students who are enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours but less than 12 credit hours. Applicants must demonstrate that they work 20 hours or more per week and provide a personal statement that indicates the reasons why they cannot attend Missouri Western on a full-time basis. This scholarship is limited to eight semesters. The scholarship is worth an amount up to $750 per semester. A 3.00 cumulative GPA is required for renewal. Application Procedures: Submit a letter of application along with employment certification to the Office of Financial Aid. Must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to award disbursement. Rod & Anne Fletcher Single Parent Scholarship Deadline: Priority March 1st Available for full-time students who meet the following criteria: Candidates must be a single parent of a child/children under the age of 18 years and living in the same household, must have completed at least 30 credit hours, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, financial need will be a consideration. Stubblefield Memorial Scholarship Deadline: March 1st Missouri Western Department Aid Program Sandra J. Stubblefield was a 1984 graduate of
Missouri Western and former professor in the Department of English. This scholarship was established in her memory by her family in 2010 to pay tribute to a woman who emphasized the value of higher education for individuals in all stages of life. The scholarship is available to full-time junior or senior declared English majors. Preference is given to non-traditional students and students from Andrew, Atchison, Holt, and Nodaway counties in Missouri. Qualified applicants must demonstrate financial need and possess a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
