Dr. Joseph Ripple Memorial Book Fund

Deadline: March 1st                 

Western Department Aid Program

This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Joseph Ripple, a former faculty member in the area of Government.  A total of $300 per year will be awarded for use towards the purchase of textbooks.  Declared Government and Public Affairs majors are eligible to apply.

Harriette Schulz

Deadline:  March 1st

Western Department Aid Program

Harriette Schulz understood the importance of higher education.  After helping her children through college, she eventually earned a master’s degree and used her college education and considerable talents to improve the lives of people in need through her grant writing and research efforts.  Her friends and family established this $500, annual scholarship to honor her memory and her life-long humanitarian efforts.

Milton Litvak Memorial Scholarship-Government

Deadline: March 31st

Western Foundation

For pre-law and/or government and public affairs, 3.0 GPA to qualify and maintain.  Must be a Sophomore or higher to apply.  Must provide the contact information (name, address, and phone number) of 3 references.  Financial need will be considered.

Application Procedures:  Complete the General Scholarship Application requirements and provide the contact information of three references on-line.

Opal Kearby Scholarship Award

Deadline: Mid-November and mid-April; contact the History, Philosophy, and Geography department for specific deadline dates.

Western Department Aid Program

Students majoring in history, government or social work are eligible to apply for one of these awards.

Government, Social Work and Sociology Western Excellence Awards            Deadline: March 1st

Western Department Aid Program

The Department of Government, Social Work, and Sociology will offer a total of $3,000 in Western Excellence scholarships during each academic year.  There will be two to six awards, ranging from $500-$1500 depending on the number of recipients. To qualify for this award you must be a declared Government, Social Work, and Sociology major or minor with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Two letters of reference from persons who are familiar with your academic record are required.

Application Procedures:  Complete the General Scholarship Application requirements and submit two letters of reference on-line or to the Department of Government, Social Work, and Sociology.

Stanley I. Dale Pre-Law Scholarship

Deadline: March 1st

Western Department Aid Program

This scholarship was established by friends and family of Stanley I. Dale, former mayor of St. Joseph, and member of the Board of Regents. Recipient must be a Junior with a minimum GPA from 3.0 to 3.5, a Pre-Law major is preferred.
