Clayton J. Thomas Memorial Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st     

Western Department Aid Program

Students who are declared majors in Mathematics or related science (Pref. Computer Science) and have completed at least 60 hours with a minimum 3.0 GPA in Math or related science are eligible to apply.  Financial need shall be given consideration only in the event all other criterion is equal among candidates.

Computer Science and Mathematics Scholarship Program

Deadline:  Priority March 1st

Western Department Aid Program

The Computer Science and Mathematics Scholarship Program at Missouri Western will grant up to 20 scholarships to academically talented computer science or mathematics majors who qualify for financial aid.  This program will increase the numbers of majors, especially from under-represented groups, and will foster learning outside the classroom.  These goals will be achieved through a learning community built on faculty-student mentoring, internship opportunities and activities related to career development.

Application Procedures:  Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit any requested documents to the Office of Financial Aid.  Apply online at http://www.missouriwestern.edu/csmp.

Georg Friedrich Riemann Award                  

Western Department Aid Program

This scholarship is given to a declared mathematics major selected by the mathematics faculty in recognition of significant accomplishment in the study of mathematics, and demonstrated potential for continued growth and success in the mathematical sciences.  The awardee must have completed at least 60 hours but not more than 105 hours, including the hours during the semester of selection. 

Application Procedures:  There is no formal application procedure.  All students meeting the criteria will be considered.  Applicants are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Susan M. Hinrichs Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st                   

Western Department Aid Program

Students who are declared majors in computer science or computer information systems and have completed 12 credits of computer science courses in the major with a minimum 3.0 GPA are eligible to apply.  These scholarships are funded by donations received through the Alumni Association Phonathon and are awarded each semester.

Zac Nothhouse Memorial Computer Science Scholarship

Deadline:  March 1st                    

Western Department Aid Program

Established by the family and friends of Zac Nothhouse.  Will provide scholarships for students majoring in Computer Science.  Recipient should be an entering Freshman and graduate of Savannah High School, have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate financial need.

Western Excellence Awards

Deadline: Priority March 1st

Western Department Aid Program

Incoming Freshman:  One, $1,000 scholarship ($500 each semester) will be awarded to an incoming Freshman.  Applicants must have achieved a 25 or higher on the ACT math sub-score and be enrolled in CSC184, MAT167, MAT177 or MAT287.  To receive the award for the second semester, the recipient must earn a "C" or higher in the above course,  declare a major in at least one CSMP discipline, and enroll in an appropriate discipline-specific subsequent course during the spring semester.

Continuing Student:  Up to four awards valued at $500 ($250 each semester) will be awarded to current Western students who are declared majors or minors in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics or a declared major (in any discipline) and enrolled in CSMP departmental coursework not listed as a minimal requirement of the major.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
