Academic Excellence Scholarship Deadline: March 1st Western Department Aid Program Business majors who have accumulated 75 hours, 21 of which are in business, with at least 12 of the 21 hours completed at Missouri Western, and who have a minimum GPA of 3.0, with a 3.5 GPA in business courses, are eligible to apply for this $300-a-year scholarship. Academic achievement, faculty recommendations, and participation in outside activities will be the primary considerations for selection. $1000 scholarship. The applicant must be an incoming junior or incoming senior business major with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. This scholarship is valued at $2,000 paid at $1,000 per semester. Scholarship will be awarded based on academic performance and involvement in community service. Financial need will be a consideration if all other criteria are equal. Iffert Business Scholarship Deadline: March 1st Western Department Aid Program This endowment was created by Herbert C. Iffert, a graduate of the St. Joseph Junior College and the University of Kansas. He retired from St. Joseph Light & Power Co. as Vice President of Finance with an excess of 40 years of service. The applicant must have at least 60 hours, maintain a GPA of 3.0 and major in business. Preference will be given to accounting majors. Financial need should become a consideration if all other criteria are equal. Involvement in campus and community activities should also be considered. Owens Agriculture-Business Scholarship Deadline: March 1st Western Department Aid Program For Agriculture-Business majors who will have accumulated 60 hours by the end of the spring semester and who have a GPA of 3.00. The scholarship is renewable if the recipient maintains a 3.5 GPA. Two letters of reference are required and financial need will be a consideration. McCarthy Memorial Accounting Scholarship Deadline: March 1st Western Foundation The James E. McCarthy Memorial Accounting Scholarship has been established by family and friends in memory of James "Jim" McCarthy. Jim earned his BS in Accounting from Missouri Western, obtained his CPA, taught at Western, and earned his Masters in Accounting from UMKC. He established a private accounting practice in Gower, Missouri. The scholarship criteria includes: Full time Junior or Senior Accounting major with a minimum GPA of 3.0. All things being equal, consideration will be given to those students with financial need. John Sublett Logan Business Fellowship Program Deadline: March 1st Western Department Aid Program The John Sublett Logan Business Fellowship Program provides scholarships to senior students who are completing their undergraduate program and intend to pursue graduate degrees in accounting, business, economics or law. They must have completed a minimum of 90 hours, have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and be accepted by a graduate school. This scholarship is renewable. Contact Information: Foundation Office, 816/271-5647 John Sublett Logan Business Undergraduate Scholarship Deadline: March 1st Western Department Aid Program The John Sublett Logan Business Undergraduate Scholarship provides assistance to full-time, junior and senior students who intend to pursue graduate degrees in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Legal Studies. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 60 hours, have a minimum GPA of 3.20, earned a composite ACT of 23 or above, participate in community service, be a declared major in Business, Legal Studies, Accounting, or Economics, and reside in Buchanan, Platte, Andrew, Clay, or Clinton county in Missouri. First preference, as an athlete, is given to football players and first preference in major is Finance, then Economics, then General Business. Two references are required. Financial need will be the determining factor when applicants are otherwise qualified. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to qualify. Must be a full-time student, preference given to student athlete (preferably a football player) majoring in Business, Accounting or Finance. If no student athletes qualify, then preference shall be given to a student majoring in Business, Accounting or Finance. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and 2.5 to maintain for second semester. Preference also given to student from KC metropolitan area with special preference given to graduates from Hickman Mills or Grandview High Schools. Financial need shall be the determining factor among qualified candidates. Candidate must submit a minimum of 2 references. Alexander Scholarship Deadline: June 15th Private Donor The Foundation offers $3,500 in scholarships each year to Missouri high school seniors through the Willis W. Alexander Scholarship program. The Foundation makes seven $500 scholarship awards to high school seniors who are planning to enroll in a full-time course of study leading to a degree with a major in a field related to banking. One scholarship is awarded in each of MBA's seven regions.
