Award Notifications for the upcoming academic year will be available beginning April 15th. (Applications completed after April 15th will be packaged each Thursday.) Please respond to your award notification within 15 days of the date received to secure your awards.

Your Rights and Responsibilities

  • Your award letter is valid only if you have been officially admitted as a degree-seeking student to Missouri Western State University.
  • Western may adjust your financial aid package to reflect changes in your personal or financial circumstances and as new resources become available.  If a change in your aid package is required, we will send you a revised award notification.
  • Unless your award states otherwise, the offer is based on full-time enrollment (12 credit hours).  If your enrollment status changes at any time, it may affect your aid package.
  • You must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress toward your degree in order to retain financial aid eligibility.
  • All Federal Awards are made on the condition that you do not owe a refund (repayment) on a grant, or are not in default on any federal loan.
  • Awards from the government and private sources are dependent upon receipt of funds from the appropriate agencies.  You are responsible for any re-application process needed  to continue receipt of funds.  Western will not replace funds lost due to non-renewal of applications.
  • Federal funds, as well as many Western scholarships, will not be awarded/disbursed if you have an incomplete FAFSA file in the Office of Financial Aid.

Renewal of Financial Aid

Financial Aid is not automatically renewed from one year to the next.  You must re-apply each year.  This requires submitting a new financial aid application (FAFSA) and any supplemental documents requested by Western.  The awards in your financial aid package may vary from year to year, depending on your financial circumstances.
