Academic Honesty:  Students will be treated as mature adults with accompanying expectations including but not limited to honest, creative and industrious work, prior acknowledgement to the professor of special needs or concerns, verbal participation in class and diligent attendance.

 

Encouragement:    Utilize the Center for Academic Support.

 

Assignments:     1.  4 papers each rating 15% of grade.

2.    A journal reflecting your own growth and exploratory processes.  2 entries per week. 15% of grade.

3.    Impromptu class writings (pop quizzes) on assigned readings.  No make-ups.  10% of grade.

4.    Final rating 15% of grade.

 

Essays will be computer generated, double-spaced, proofread and adhering to MLA format.  Papers will have student’s name, English section number, Date in upper right hand corner and pages numbers centered on bottom of each page.  Papers due at beginning of class on due date.  Grades will be dropped 1 letter grade for each infraction of the following rules of grammar: 1) Subject-verb disagreement; 2) Comma splice; 3) Sentence fragment; 4) Run-on Sentences; 5) 3Misspeeled words 6) Each day an assignment is tardy.  Details on topics will be forthcoming.

Sept. 12  Strong Personal Belief Paper.

Sept. 30  Literary Critical Paper

Nov. 23 – 24  Thanksgiving

Dec. 5  Researched Argument.

Dec. 10 – 16  Finals
