Typical Agenda for a Class Period The typical class period will follow this schedule: practice time to work in Quark |
Attendance
Please attend each and every class period. One or two absences will affect your grade adversely. More than two absences will probably cause you to fail the course. For the college's policy on attendance, see Section IV.B of the MWSC Policy Guide.
Email Account
Make sure that your MWSC email account is working properly. Check this account at least twice a day: once in the morning and again in the evening (e.g., at 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., respectively). If I must cancel class because of snow, I will send you an email message before 11 a.m. on the day in question.
Late Work
I do not give credit for work that is turned in late unless you have an acceptable excuse. I may ask you to provide documentation to support your excuse. If you need an extension on an assignment, please ask me a day or so in advance. Quizzes may not be made up for any reason; however, I will drop your lowest quiz score. My plan is to give eleven quizzes, each worth 30 points, with one dropping and ten counting.
Academic Honesty
Please do not cheat in any way. Please do not submit an assignment that in whole or part has been written by someone else unless you use proper documentation. Do not recycle papers or work from a previous course. Accidental plagiarism will result in a zero on the assignment in question; intentional plagiarism, or any other form of cheating, will result in an F in the course.
Students with Disabilities
If you have a documented disability, please contact me at the beginning of the semester to discuss accomodations.
Backup Copies
Please make multiple backup copies of all of your work for this course. You should save your work in progress frequently to a floppy disk, zip cartridge, or hard drive. Consider using different file names each time you save your work in progress. (We will discuss issues of version control during the first class period.)
Electronic Portfolio
Keep an electronic portfolio of all of your work for this class. You will be asked to submit this portfolio (either on floppy disks or a zip cartridge) at the end of the session.
