It is not necessary to purchase this item for the class. It can be rented from most local video stores. If necessary I will set up a time for viewing this movie on campus later in the semester. If you are unable to attend the viewing on campus, I would ask that you do rent or borrow the movie for personal viewing so that you may be able participate in subsequent assignments and discussions. The status of this item as "Recommended" will not be an excuse for a lack of participation concerning the assignments and discussions related to this material.
General Requirements for English 210: Approaches to Literature can be found at: http://www.missouriwestern.edu/EFLJ/eng210.asp
It is now the year 2000. We live in a unique time that allows us to make use of increasingly extraordinary technologies that eliminate the absolute necessity of a physical classroom space in lieu of a "Virtual" or "Cyber" classroom space. The creation of a virtual class, and subsequently a virtual campus, has made the limitation of physical distance from the institution of learning a thing of the past.
This course will be conducted solely through the use of the Internet. As such, this course should be considered a "paperless" course. All correspondence, assignments, and discussions will take place through e-mail, listserv discussions, and fully interactive real-time discussions conducted with the chat function of WebCT. The e-mail address of the listserv is: eng21040@list.mwsc.edu The url address of the listserv is list.mwsc.edu. Follow these links in order: English, Foreign Languages, and Journalism - Department of English and Foreign Languages Lists - eng21040. You are now at the log in screen for the listserv. As this is an Internet arranged course, the attendance policy will
reflect this. You will be expected to participate in all online listserv
and e-mail discussions as well as keeping up with the reading. Threaded
discussions and email will be the prevalent form of communication for
us. Each assignment missed will be negatively reflected in your final
grade assessment. It is expected that students will check the website and
listserv discussion a minimum of (2) two to (3) three times per
week. Students will also post responses a minimum of two (2) to three
(3) times per week. Students will be expected to complete all reading and
writing assignments by the time and date they are due. Late assignments
are not normally accepted. They will be handled on a case-by-case
basis. Work that is habitually late will be negatively reflected in the
final grade assessment. All readings, assignments and information
