Dave Brown is the director of of the counseling center. Mr. Brown holds a Master of Science degree in clinical psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, graduating in 1979, and has over 30 additional graduate hours in counseling psychology from Northwest Missouri State University. He completed his undergraduate work at Missouri Western State University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1975.

Mr. Brown has been involved in counseling for over 25 years working in many different aspects of the profession. He has been director of the counseling center at Missouri Western since December, 1993. Prior to that time, he was regional chemical dependency coordinator for Kaiser-Permanente, a health maintenance organization in Kansas City, Mo.

Before accepting the position with Kaiser, Mr. Brown was employed as employee assistance program coordinator with Family Guidance Mental Health Center in St. Joseph. In that capacity, he worked closely with Missouri Western personnel in establishing the university's employee assistance program, which he now directs. Before obtaining his advanced degree, Mr. Brown was assistant city editor of the St. Joseph Gazette.
