BIO 220 Field Natural History

Catalog Description: Involves participation in an off-campus field trip to experience a focused study of a unique biotic habitat.  May involve pre-trip lectures and organizational meetings and/or post-trip class sessions or presentations.  Prerequisites: BIO 105 or BIO 101 or department approval.

Students in the Spring 2008 version of BIO 220 Field Natural History will take a trip to the Bahamian island of San Salvador.  Follow our trip with this day by day photo journal.

The ultimate purpose of this website is to, (1) highlight the activities of each BIO 220 adventure, and (2) offer information to others who might be interested in developing a similar course experience for their students.

Links to various field stations where instructors may take their students for out of the classroom experiences; information will offered to help avoid potential problems when planning trips and suggestions will be offered about what to take with you depending on the habitat.

It is hoped that our past experiences will save others from having to "reinvent the wheel".
