Co-Curricular Funding --

SERIES Guidelines and Application Information

Proposals should be forwarded as an e-mail attachment to Deny Staggs <dstaggs>. Please see below for list of information which must be included in all proposals. For further information, or if you have questions, please contact Deny Staggs at <dstaggs> or x4441.

Preference will be given to proposals which address the greatest number of the following goals:

  1. Demonstrate a plan for integrating events with classroom and/or curricular experience.
  2. Cross program, departmental, and/or school lines (i.e., which have broad impact across the curriculum, or foster coordination and cooperation across disciplinary boundaries).
  3. Foster communication and cooperation between academic and student development personnel.
  4. Have a detailed three-year plan for the events in the series, so as to be able to fold them into Western’s co-curricular transcript goal.
  5. Involve individual students of student groups in the planning and funding process.
  6. Serve a guaranteed audience of 100-400 individuals per event. Having a plan for
coordinating with Kristy Hill in marketing to promote the events will strengthen a proposal.
  7. Bring significant local, regional, or national attention to Western.
Proposals must include the following information:
  1. Proposer’s name, campus address, phone number, and e-mail.
  2. Name of event series and proposed dates. A series must have at least one event annually for three years.
  3. A brief description of each annual event planned and all related events or activities. For example, the main event may be a guest speaker giving a public lecture during the evening, but that speaker may also meet with students and make presentations in several classes during the period of time he or she is on campus. A description like this for each of the events to take place of over a three year time span is required.
  4. A brief narrative in which you explain how your proposal meets any (or all) of the goals for “series” event grant funding listed above.
  5. Where will the event take place? (Please check with scheduling at x4210.)
  6. A marketing plan for promoting the event. (Please work with Kristy Hill, <hillk> or x5649.)
  7. Financial information
    1. Provide figures on the total cost for each year, and a grand total for the three-year cycle. Expenses should be itemized with explanations for each item.
    2. Identify any possible matching or other funding that will be sought.
    3. Identify the specific amount requested from Co-curricular Activities “Series “ Events Fund.
