2008 Call for Papers
Scholars and practitioners of applied learning
are
invited to submit proposals for symposia, individual
presentations, poster sessions or roundtable discussions.
All presenters must register for the conference, and
handouts are recommended for all presentation formats.
- Symposia must include a minimum of three panelists
who explore diverse perspectives on a single theme,
and should be roughly 45-60 minutes in length.
- Individual presentations
are more in-depth
explorations of an aspect of applied learning, and
should be roughly 15-20 minutes in length.
- Poster presentations
offer an informal way for
presenters to interact with colleagues. At least one
author must remain with each poster throughout
the poster session.
- Roundtable discussants are expected to make
a short
introductory presentation and lead the discussion
among participants at the table. Proposals should indicate the
topic and major points of discussion for
the intended audience.
Topics may focus on assessment and/or evaluation
of the quality of applied learning, the development or
administration of applied learning programs, or related
topics. Each proposal should be sent as a Word attachment,
and include the following:
- Which area of applied learning your
proposal
addresses (study away, independent research,
internship/practica, service-learning, or co-curricular
programming)
- Preferred presentation format (symposia, individual,
poster, or roundtable)
- Title
- Author(s) names, institution(s), and contact
information (including e-mail addresses)
- Summary of no more than 250 words (graphs, tables
and photographs need not be included). Summary
should include learning objectives for the audience.
