Alumni Scholarships

The Alumni Association offers two different scholarships for Western students - the Alumni Association Scholarship and the Alumni Family Scholarship. 

Alumni Association Scholarship
The Alumni Association Scholarship is awarded to help cover the costs of tuition, books and other educationally related expenses.  The scholarship is awarded on the basis of merit (requiring a minimum 3.5 GPA) or on a combination of need and merit (requiring a minimum 3.0 GPA). 

Eligibility requirements are:

• Current Western Student
• 3.5 GPA or 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need
• At least one complete semester at Western

The Alumni Association Scholarship application is available through the Financial Aid Office each year and is due NO LATER THAN March 1 each year.

Alumni Family Scholarship
The Alumni Family Scholarship was established by the Missouri Western State University Alumni Association for incoming sons and daughters of Missouri Western Alumni.

Eligibility requirements are:

• Incoming freshman
• Son/Daughter of a Western alumnus
• 3.0 GPA out of high school
• Provide two reference letters
• Demonstrate financial need
• Involvement in four extra-curricular activities in high school.

The Western Alumni Family Scholarship application is available through the Financial Aid Website each year and is due NO LATER THAN March 1.
