General University Requirements

Admission into the Missouri Western State University general studies program requires a complete admissions file and completion of the high school core curriculum.  The Core Curriculum required for Western is:

 

 

4 units of English

3 units of Mathematics

3 units of Social Studies

2 units of Science (one course must be a lab)

1 unit of a Fine/Performing Art

3 units of Electives from any of the core subjects or a foreign language

How to Apply

The following information is necessary to complete your admissions file so you may enroll at a New Student Registration Program.

     

First-time Freshmen and Transfer Students with fewer than 24 hours

1 Completed Application for Admission (apply online now!)
2 ACT Results Western's ACT code is 2344. Not required for students age 20 and older.
3 High School Transcript or Homeschooled transcript with a minimum of six semesters of work (A final copy is necessary after graduation). GED students should request an official copy of their results from the Department of Education - Secondary Education (DESE).
5 Nonrefundable $15 application processing fee (this is a one-time fee required only with the initial application to Western)
6 College Transcripts for any college credit or high school classes taken for college credit.  Transcript must be sent from college/university that credit is granted through.

     

Transfer Students with 24 or more credit hours

1 Completed Application for Admission (apply online now!)
2 Official and Complete Transcript from each undergraduate college and university attended
3 Nonrefundable $15 application processing fee (this is a one-time fee required only with the initial application to Missouri Western)
  • Transfer students who hold an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited Missouri public institution are considered to have satisfactorily completed Missouri Western's general studies requirements, and will be admitted at the junior-year level. There are some exceptions which will be evaluated course by course. 

  • Missouri Western transfer students must meet the minimum residency, upper-division course and graduation requirements.  Students with AA degrees will typically transfer sixty-four (64) credit hours.  Lower division credits hours completed beyond the AA degree will be evaluated for transfer on a course-by-course basis. 2 Official and Complete Transcript from each undergraduate college and university which has been attended since last enrolled at Western

*Western Neighboring States Scholarship - Recipients must live in the residence halls and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA for renewal.  This award cannot be combined with the Midwest Student Exchange Program or the Western Frontier Scholarship. Non-community college transfer students with less than 60 credit hours must meet the same criteria as freshmen. Non-community college transfer students with more than 60 credit hours must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
