fieldhouse of the M.O. Looney Complex.

On May 12, 2012, during Missouri Western State University’s commencement ceremonies, degrees will be conferred on all students who have completed graduation requirements in the spring and summer of 2012. 

Keep checking your Western email for important information and updates.

Information will be emailed to graduates in late March.

make your own changes online in your secure profile area.

Senior Fair

Come and pick up your cap and gown at the Senior Fair!

Graduation announcements may be ordered at the Senior Fair.

Caps & Gowns

You do NOT order your own cap and gowns for commencement.  They are pre-ordered for you and may be picked up at the Senior Fair on April 4 (see above) or April 5 - May 11, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM at the Barnes & Noble bookstore located in Blum Student Union. To be assured of a proper fit, it would be advisable to pick up your graduation garb as early as possible. The only additional embellishment allowed on the gown is the gold MWSU Honors stole. 

Regalia

Candidates for certificates and degrees must wear robes without added adornment such as markings on mortar boards, beads or flowers.  If you wear additional adornment, it will be taken away before you enter the arena floor.

Honor Stoles

Degree candidates who will graduate with honors wear stoles, which will be distributed during line-up information on the day of commencement.  Honor graduates are identified in the commencement program.

Masters Graduates

Caps, gowns and hoods for those receiving Masters degrees will be special ordered.  You will be contacted regarding sizes and you will be notified through your Missouri Western email account when the orders have arrived.

A Note from the Photography Company

ATTENTION ALL GRADUATES:  GradImages is the official photographer for our Commencement.  Proofs will be sent to your home and via email within three to five days after graduation.  Pictures can be ordered online, by phone or by mail. Graduation Images can be contacted at 800-261-2576 or via email at www.gradimages.com.  Click on the pre-registration tab and enter the school name (Missouri Western State University) then enter your email information.

Registering your graduate with GradImages provides them with the information they need to deliver your graduation proofs to you in a timely manner.  Giving them an accurate mailing address and email address will allow them to get your proofs to you on the first try.  You may also provide them with email addresses of up to six friends and family members to allow them to celebrate in the accomplishment.

The Commencement Ceremony - Fieldhouse

There is limited seating for handicapped and elderly family members.  Seating is on a first come, first served basis.  Guests must be seated prior to 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. as the ceremonies begins promptly at those times. Please arrive early. The ceremonies last approximately one hour.

11:00 a.m. Commencement ceremony

(Graduates should report to old gym no later than 10:00 a.m.)

Reception

A reception honoring all graduates will be held in the small gymnasium of the M.O. Looney Complex immediately following each ceremony.  Parents, faculty, administrators, and Board members are invited.

Diplomas

Graduates will receive a diploma cover on the day of the ceremony with a congratulatory note from President Robert Vartabedian.  The Registrar’s Office will mail your diploma approximately 4-6 weeks after your graduation term to the address listed on your graduation application.  Please be sure your mailing address is updated. 

Please note that official transcripts with graduation information and the MWSU diploma will not be released if any financial obligation exists with the University.
