COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION

May 10, 2008 Commencement Information

Congratulations on your nearing graduation!

On May 10, 2008, during Missouri Western State University’s commencement ceremonies, degrees will be conferred on all students who have completed graduation requirements in the spring semester of 2008. Information will be mailed to graduates the first week in April, so please make sure your address is updated.

May 10, 2008 Commencement Preparation Schedule

April 7 – May 9 (approximate dates at this time)
Graduates may pick up regalia at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore on Missouri Western’s Campus (Blum Union 101) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

May 10
Reception for graduates and families - TBA

11:00 a.m. Commencement ceremony – Fieldhouse
(Graduates should report to old gym no later than 10:00 a.m.)

The following majors will participate in the 11:00 ceremony:

Business
Chemistry
Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics
Economics
Engineering Technology
Nursing
Psychology

3:00 p.m. Commencement ceremony – Fieldhouse
(Graduates should report to old gym no later than 2:00 p.m.)

The following majors will participate in the 3:00 ceremony:

Art
Communication Studies
Criminal Justice/Legal Studies
Education
English, Foreign Languages, Journalism
Government, Social Work, Sociology
Health, Physical Education, Recreation
History, Philosophy, Geography
Music
Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies
Bachelor of Science in Technology 2+2

Regalia
Candidates for certificates and degrees must wear robes without added adornment such as markings on mortar boards, beads or flowers. If you wear additional adornment, it will be taken away before you enter the arena floor.

Honor Stoles
Degree candidates who will graduate with honors wear stoles, which will be distributed during line-up information on May 10. Honor graduates are identified in the commencement program.

After Graduation

Diplomas
Graduates will receive a diploma cover on the day of the ceremony with a congratulatory note from President James Scanlon. The Registrar’s Office will mail your diploma approximately 4-6 weeks following the ceremony to the address on your graduation application. Please be sure your address is updated.

Transcripts
Graduates can receive their transcripts free for one year following their graduation date. Click here for information on requesting a transcript.

Graduation Photograph
At the commencement ceremony, Chappell Graduation Images, a professional photography company, will take pictures of each candidate as diplomas are presented. Chappell will contact respective graduates directly. If you do not receive your proof, or if you have questions regarding the photographs, please contact Chappell by calling (800) 424-3686. NEW! Preregister your email, as well as friends and family email addresses, and Chappell Graduation Images will contact you and them when your photos are available for online viewing and ordering.
